Make Parking Next to Churches Legal in New York City
Why this petition matters

While NYC has a fairly operational for a big city like NYC public transit system, many of us still have to own private cars for good reasons which includes the necessity to travel to where the transportation system has no access, safety, health reasons and many more reasons, the main of which is that we legally own a car and pay horrific insurance rates- this is actually all a New York City official is entitled to ask about our reasoning.
Parking those cars is harder than ever. Much as we love bike lanes, they've snapped up sorely needed parking spots and some road markings look like they are intentionally made to limit the space available for parking. New developments include parking that requires curb cuts, and thus removes street parking.
Surprisingly, numerous churches of New York City still enjoy the Middle Ages privileges of NO PARKING signs as supported by the NYC road police which is getting a daily toll from those desperate car owners who could not find a place after a 40-minute-round of the neighborhood.
It is useless to ask that local churches act neighborly and communally-minded - the whole history of the Humanity pictures clerics in a very different way, moreover that many members of the clergy have permits that therefore allow them to abuse the NYC dire parking situation.
As NYC residents, we simply ask that everyone has the same and equal right to park, legally, in front of these institutions that almost never need the spots.
By one account, there are some 6,000 churches, 1,000 synagogues and 100 mosques here in New York City. We're talking about some 20,000 + parking spots, and years more time spent with friends and family, instead of driving around looking for parking, but what is more important is the principle of justice and equality that we are talking about here.
City Council, do the right thing: make it happen: we are not here for you- you are here for us! We know that the greed and sloth take you to the opposite directions but while we understand that you cannot care less about the two of the seven deadly sins, do always mind the elections)
