It has been in recent announcements that Ole Miss will be having Panhellenic/IFC Formal Recruitment September 24-October 1. The Ole Miss-Bama game also happens to be on September 30th meaning that majority of the student section, considering 42% of the student body is Greek, and 60% of the freshman class will rush, will be empty. This is our biggest rival and our most serious game of the whole season and instead of being able to come together as a school, we will be amidst the joys and heartbreaks of rush. One of my favorite memories as a freshman was going to Tuscaloosa with my friends to see my first big Ole Miss football game. That weekend, seeing the brotherhood and sisterhood that other fraternities and sororities had from rival schools was amazing and got me so much more excited about the recruitment process. Rush is very important to every Greek organization and it is important that we put our full focus into that week of finding our newest brothers and sisters, instead of trying to cheer our Rebels on. This year when we got beat on our own turf it was embarrassing because of the amount of fans that had come to see that game from Tuscaloosa. If the Rebels don't have a big turn out in Tuscaloosa it could be detrimental to our season. For the betterment of the recruitment process, and the Ole Miss Rebels, we would really like it if Rush could be changed to the weekend before or after or ANYTHING but the Bama football weekend.
