Interrupting for #EducationNotDeportation
Apr 7, 2016 — Hi all,
Many of us gathered last night to interrupt a campaign event with Mayor Bill de Blasio for Hillary Clinton at the UFT headquarters. We stood as union members because our voices were not heard when the endorsement was made, because there are people in detention RIGHT NOW that Hillary can act on her words of March 9th ( Hillary Clinton, #LetThemGraduate!) because Bill de Blasio says the raids are NOT happening in NYC but our students' parents and brothers and community members have been and will continue to be the victims of raids and private detention centers and deportation until we all stand up and say enough is enough. #educationnotdeportation #icefreenyc #Not1More Teachdream ICE-FREE NYC New York Collective of Radical Educators (NYCoRE) We stood last night because #blacklivesmatter taught us in action.
We have updated our petition to reflect current demands for the Chancellor and the Mayor, and were able to deliver it to our union president Mulgrew last night as well. Please sign, pass on, and continue to spread the word.
