Make menopause a protected characteristic under the Equality Act

1 in 10 women surveyed recently in Britain left or lost their job because of the menopause. Some left as a result of disciplinary action because there is a lack of understanding in our society of menopausal symptoms and their ability for some to continue working in the sane way. If menopause was a protected characteristic everyone including employers would have to make reasonable adjustments to accommodate them. This would offer a level of protection and ultimately, I believe, lead to greater understanding in society.
