Make MCAP Math Testing More Fair

Make MCAP Math Testing More Fair
Why this petition matters
Lots of students in Maryland are currently MCAP testing. MCAP testing is a standardized online testing service. It includes a coherent set of summative mathematics assessments aligned to the Maryland College and Career Ready Mathematics Standards. Students are required to take MCAP at the end of grades 3-8.
So what's the problem here? The problem is the limited amount of time they give us for each section. They only give us 40 minutes maximum and that is so little time for math because it requires lots of thinking and the amount of pressure it has on the students which causes them to panic and just click random answers to questions. Like for example, according to a student who goes by the name of Carla, "When I looked at how much time we had left, I panicked because we only had 5 minutes left while I was stuck on only the 6th question out of 10. I had to finish the test and the rest of my class had the same issue and we were all stuck on the same question! The teacher ordered us to just click random answers for the rest of the test so we could finish." This issue also happened to me while I was testing yesterday.
Another problem is that we aren't allowed to go back to questions to check our answers so that causes anxiety of people getting worried if they accidentally click the arrow because if you click the arrow to go to the next question you can't go back but you can do that on the ELA MCAP test which is unfair. And at the end of the test you can't review your answers. So many students have complained about the testing conditions and I honestly agree with them so please help us raise enough signers to get better rules for the MCAP testing to be better for the students.
