Have a heart, Massachusetts. Let's plan ahead for our communities and make Massachusetts coal-free by 2020.
Coal-fired power is failing us: harming our health, devastating our environment, and putting the economic future of our communities at risk. Mothers and children, the elderly, and those with respiratory disease are particularly vulnerable to toxic emissions, and with coal's financial viability waning, local jobs and revenues are vanishing.
Governor Patrick and the state legislature can take a leadership role by committing to phase out coal-fired power by 2020, advancing energy efficiency and renewable energy, and planning to protect our communities and workers.
Massachusetts should fully implement the Global Warming Solutions Act and mandate a just transition to our clean energy future.
