Make Masks Optional in Indiana Schools

The time has come to end the mandates and make masks optional for our children in school.
As recently reported across all mainstream news, "the science has changed."
We have been told to, "follow the science" for a really long time now, and even though many of us have disagreed with it from the beginning, we have done so anyway. But now, the science is telling us that masking is doing more harm than good, that cloth masks do not prevent the spread of Covid. We can go to NFL games, concerts, and pretty much anywhere we WANT to go with no restrictions, but our poor children are forced to mask all day every day in a place they HAVE to go.
While it is understood that many people still prefer to have their children masked, that is 100% fine, as each parent should be allowed to make the decision they feel is best for their child. However, the issue at hand is that for those of us who do not want our children masked all day, we are not given a choice.
Governor Holcomb and the Indiana Health Department - it is time to make a change and follow states like Illinois, New Jersey and Connecticut that have ended their school masking. Many of our superintendent's hands are tied because they are forced to follow your leadership in order to receive their school funding.
Enough is enough. These kids have suffered enough. They need their chance to BE KIDS. It has been nearly three years since they've had a single "normal" day of school. They deserve to see their teachers smile. They deserve to learn interpersonal communication through the facial expressions of their classmates. It is time to step up and lead our state like the leader we elected you to be.
