Why this petition matters

Started by Helen Axup

Main Street has had new bollards put along the wide path opposite the White Heart pub. We would like to petition to have them removed and replaced with a small layby with disabled access.  The bollards have made access to the two disabled bungalows impossible. The residents both have tenants with mobility problems and they require transport to access their community. Gone are the days where the disabled are discriminated against, yet here we are telling these people that they are not welcome in our village. The council have said that vehicles can park at the side of the road!!! This is ludicrous. This would be extremely dangerous as it is a busy blind bend which often has speeding cars driving through from Doncaster town centre. It would make anyone walking along the path or sitting outside the pub at risk.   This has in fact made Main street unsafe.

  • Traffic pulling out from Old School Lane have restricted viewing and therefore unsafe.
  • The refuse vehicle collecting from the village hall have now restricted access.
  • Ambulances have no access to the two disabled bungalows that in their very nature would have a higher probability of needing the emergency services.
  • Cars are forced to park on the road on a blind bend with high volume of traffic, which makes it a danger to public in the area.

WE ARE SUPPOSED TO BE A COMMUNITY TO BE PROUD OF!!!! Lets not discriminate against the disabled who just want to be part of this wonderful village. A layby would allow access to the bungalows and ensure there is a pavement that is safe and accessible for all. Please show your support and sign.
