Our school board has proposed improving the high school facilities instead of the middle school.  Organizations who use the current facilities are opposed to this and would like to see the improvements made to the Middle School facilities instead.

Cornwall Youth Football & Cheer has provided thousands of Cornwall CSD students the benefits of physical activity, while teaching lifelong lessons, such as teamwork, leadership, and perseverance over the last thirty plus years. CYF also provides our older students the opportunity to volunteer as teachers and role models for younger students. The proposed improvements at the Middle School would allow us to keep the fantastic relationships our participants have with the varsity program. When our players and cheerleaders can watch the high school players and cheerleaders compete at the same location as they do, it motivates them to want to do the same. The improved facilities would show all our players and parents that CCSD supports all Cornwall student athletes regardless of age.

This is supported by Cornwall High School players and coaches and by Girls on the Run Hudson Valley which serves hundreds of girls within our community.  The proposed improvements to the middle school athletic fields would help accommodate space issues on the track allowing more girls an opportunity to participate in the program. They could also host the end of season celebratory 5K event at the Middle School again. These events draw between 1,500 - 2,200 participants from the entire Hudson Valley.

 We believe improving this field and facilities is the best way to promote pride and unity within the greater Cornwall community.
