This petition is to block the creation of so called "safe injection sites" and "safe injection rooms” used for illicit drug use. Ultimately, making the practice of condoning and borderline approving explicit drug use throughout the United States illegal. There is no argument that this terrible epidemic is wiping out a generation. Coming from someone who recently lost my only sibling to a drug overdose as well as have advocated to help recovering addicts who are committed to recovery begin a successful career path, this movement of safe injection sites is a complete, blatant undermining of extremely hard work done by families and individuals to keep themselves and loved ones clean. Addiction does not discriminate; it will take hold and destroy anyone in its path including the families and people who love them. Addiction hides in the faces of everyday people all around us. Addiction is a 24/7 internal war for addicts. Safe injection sites not only make it harder for sober individuals struggling with addiction to stay clean, but it also enables active users to keep using and progress their drug use and tolerance level.
