Make Hunter Online During Shooting Turmoil
Earlier today, there was a horrific shooting at Sunset Park, in which at least 23 people were seriously injured. Many students are in fear of using the subways to transport themselves to class, especially with the shooter still on the loose. Today, Hunter College released a statement in which it announced that the campus is operating on a normal schedule and that students with transportation issues should handle their difficulties on their own.
As students in a commuter school, we know how reliant we are on public transportation and how in fear we are given the recent dangers. The CUNY chancellor himself sent out an email recognizing how traumatic this situation is and suggesting students to reach out to school counselors. I hope that Hunter recognizes our valid concerns over our transport to campus and makes classes online until further notice.
