Local non-profit, Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada has a Henderson location where girls are able to meet and lead in different badge activities and fun. Over the past year, there has been an increase in homeless activity in that area near the park that has now spilled over towards the Girl Scout House. We are petitioning the City of Henderson to make necessary changes to the area around the Girl Scout House since it sits on city property, so that we can ensure the girls' safety at events and meetings. Recently, there have been attempted break ins to the house, dangerous and hazardous materials left outside and around the house areas, and most recently there have been large groups of homeless persons gathered outside of the building with items blocking the entry. We are hoping to get City of Henderson to address the growing homeless population in that area and make necessary changes to make not only the Henderson Girl Scout House but also the local park nearby safe for everyone in that area to use.
