Eid is a loved holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide to pray in congregation and gather with family. However, many Muslim students in Tustin Unified feel they are unable to truly celebrate this important holiday because of school. 

As of August 2022, TUSD does not have a school holiday for Eid. Muslim students have to choose between going to school and missing the Eid prayers at the mosque and other festivities, or not going to school and missing out on important tests, quizzes, and content. 

This cannot stand. Muslim students deserve a chance to celebrate their sacred holiday without worrying about missing important content/assessments or catching up on missed work. That is why we are calling for TUSD to mark Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha as official school holidays. 

We believe that with the right support, we can achieve this goal and allow Muslims to celebrate their sacred holiday without worries. Every signature matters, so use your voice!
