Make Eid an Official Holiday in the FISD School Calendar

Make Eid an Official Holiday in the FISD School Calendar
Why this petition matters

In most school districts around the U.S, we have certain holidays that the school district gives us days off. Though, for many Muslims in America, Eid isn't an official holiday on the calendar- making it harder to miss school.
Eid al Fitr is an important holiday for the Muslim community. It can be compared to the Christian holiday of Christmas in the sense that it is the most important holiday in our religion.
For thirty exhausting days, we fast from sunrise to sunset, not just avoiding food but also avoiding bad habits and behavior. At the end of these thirty days, we have the holiday Eid to celebrate the ending of the month of Ramadan.
For most Muslims in the FISD school district- not to mention in America- we are unable to take this day off without the worry of missing exams or important lessons. Often, the youth do end up going to school in order to not miss anything, but in doing so we miss the one most important day of the year for us. We lose time meant for us to spend with our family, time that can't be given back.
Inspired by my childhood friend, Iman Azeez, who got her school in Pennysylvania to make Eid an official holiday, I want to make this petition in hopes that the FISD school district will consider making Eid an official holiday on the school calendar. Just one day off will make so many Muslim youth relaxed and grateful.
Please sign this petition, and help me make an influence in our school district.
