Mississippi is one of only 16 states that does NOT have cyberbullying laws, yet almost 50% of students report being cyberbullied. In Mississippi, youth ages 10-24 have an average of 49 deaths per year by suicide — according to data from the state Department of Health Vital Statistics program. Bullying is one of the most often-cited causes of this epidemic. These numbers are only going to increase until something is done to stop the cause. Please look at David's Law that was recently passed in Texas. http://www.legis.state.tx.us/tlodocs/85R/billtext/html/SB00179I.htm Our students deserve the same protection.
