Clairvoyants, psychic mediums and others who claim to communicate with the dead prey on the emotional wellbeing of the bereaved - often under the thinly veiled small print of 'for entertainment purposes only'.

I would like to see all such activity reclassified as fraud and punishable under the appropriate laws.

The consensus of psychology/neurology is that 'you' are not a 'soul' in a physical shell that continues after death, but - as neuroscientist David Eagleman puts it in his book 'The Brain: the story of you': 'Who you are depends on what your neurons are doing moment by moment'.

I believe clairvoyants, psychic mediums and others are preying on the science illiteracy that exists in the West and using well established psychological methods to convince people they are communication with their loved ones. 

It saddens me that often the people who are most prone to be taken in by these methods are often the ones who will defend the people using them which creates a feedback loop that allows this baseless charlatanism to continue.

Please help me to help those people who don't want to help themselves by signing this petition, let us get clairvoyants, psychic mediums and others punishable in law and increase science literacy in the process.
