PETITION TO MAKE CHARLOTTE STREET ONE WAY 

 Restaurants have been one of the hardest hit businesses in the last two years of the pandemic. We are still recovering from all the lockdowns and restrictions we have had to endure. McThirsty’s, Nateure’s Plate and Fork It have applied for a patio for the upcoming season. We were all excited to be open for inside and outside dining leading into the patio season for the first time in three years. We were just informed the city is only allowing us to have parking spaces in our storefront this year instead of Charlotte Street turning into a one-way street and giving us the maximum amount of space like we had the last two years. We are still trying to recover the losses we have suffered and having a large patio space would help greatly with that. Some of us have decided not to do the patio if we can’t have the extra space this year. The extra space would allow us to have a safer space for our customers and allow for us to make up some extra revenue we have lost during the pandemic. We have noticed since the lifting of Covid mandates some people are not comfortable dining in anymore. Having these patios would allow us to cater to everyone.

 With only three businesses applying for patios this year there will still be over three quarters of the street available for parking for the retail businesses.
