In recent years reproductive rights have come up a lot in political conversations. Abortion bans, woman's clinic protests, and planned parenthood dissolvement have all been issues that many are fighting for or against. Birth control is another issue that has come up in recent times, but it is also the solution to some of the formerly mentioned problems. Right now, people are fighting against abortions saying that if a woman did not want a baby, she should have taken the necessary precautions but what if that woman did not have access to those precautions. A basic principle of life that we learn at a young age is that you cannot have it both ways and that philosophy applies here as well. The government cannot take away all revenues of contraceptive rights. Abortion is a bigger issue that cannot be solved at the moment, but we can help to lower the rate of abortions to hopefully fix the issue soon by making birth control pills over the counter. Please do not take away the rights of women without giving them a chance to protect themselves from having to use them.
