Make Bakers Lane one-way

Make Bakers Lane one-way
Why this petition matters
We are urging to get rid of the dangerous junction from Bakers Lane onto the Chester Road after a number of severe accidents. As a resident of Bakers Lane, my family and I have witnessed a number of crashes over the years resulting in vehicles turned on their heads, smashed through fences and drivers in critical conditions. After witnessing the most recent crash, which resulted in passer-Byers pulling the victim out of her flipped over car, we’re calling for immediate action in a change in the direction of traffic . The issue is, drivers heading from Bakers Lane often pull out unsafely onto the 40mph Chester Road, resulting in accidents. We are urging the council to create a one way system that bypasses right turns onto the Chester Road from Bakers Lane. The one way system will mean no more right turns onto the busy road, instead drivers will turn left up to the shell garage and use the roundabout, ultimately making it a safer junction. The junction itself sits opposite a public entrance into Sutton Park and right next to a Nursery, therefore the surrounding area is populated with many children, families and pedestrians that are all at risk. The victim of the most recent accident was on her way home from dropping her children off at school when her car was catapulted across the road onto its roof . Local MP Rob Pocock has voiced his concerns regarding the junction and is undoubtedly on board with the changes however we need as much local support as possible to push through. We cannot wait for a fatality to occur before action is taken. Prevent to protect our community.
