A few weeks ago while walking my puppy,  the clasp of my dog lead came unhooked while walking by a busy main road. Thankfully, she didn’t run into the incoming traffic. I wrote it off as a one off, but just last week it happened again. This time I realised I couldn’t trust it and that my dog was at risk of being killed.  I’ve since took the lead back to Pets at Home and bought one with a lockable clasp. The Manager at confirmed to me that it was the second complaint that week.

Just last month, a dog died when the clip securing his harness to a kong branded leaded snapped open. The dog stepped in front of a van and was killed outright. 
Pets at Home removed all these leads from their shelves.

It isn’t acceptable that leads are being sold that are unsafe. Pet stores and online businesses should sell only guaranteed safe leads.
