This is a pivotal event in American history on the world frontier. We should never forget how America came together to help one another and woke up to the realities that the rest of the world faces on home turf. In one day thousands innocent people lost their lives because they were employed at a massive representation of capitalism. This day changed so much including families' lives, politics and national defense. It is the modern "shot heard around the world". It should not be forgotten.

I wish also to call it Remembrance Day rather than Patriot's Day.

My best friend shared this. I remember it happening when I was 7. We were all sent home from school and work.

This day deserves to be recognized, remembered, and relived through the stories, year after year. We should be taking this day to educate ourselves and our children about what happened. We should be listening to the stories of heroism and heartbreak. We should be devoting that day to remember the lives that were lost and try to come together as a nation, as we did on the day that it happened. September 11, 2001 was such a tragedy, and we should not allow it to just be “another day.” It never will be, and we as a country should recognize that.

I don’t want to go to school on 9/11. I believe that 9/11 should be a federal memorial day. Calling it a “holiday” sounds crude, because it was a horrible day. I was born in 2005, so I wasn’t alive during 9/11, but the events that day have impacted my life, and i’m guessing the lives of everyone born afterwards, and before. Every year on 9/11, I take an hour or two out of my day to sit down, watch tributes and news story’s from that day, and remember and honor to people who lost their lives that day. I don’t think we should go to school that day. No one talks about it, none of the teachers give lessons on it, no one even has us watch a video on it. My belief is, that if you’re not going to acknowledge 9/11, than we should not have work or school that day.

It should be observed to honor all the heroic firefighters and law enforcement who gave their lives to save others during a terrorist attack against our country.
