We, the students of the MA in Journalism from the University of Groningen observed that in one of our 'well-being' lectures, the University has promised us the opportunity to do the video block either from home or from University. Now that the lockdown has ended, students are allowed back in. However, one of us has decided to follow the final (video) block online.

The course is being broadcasted online, and the person in question has been participating in all the online lectures till so far. She is however not allowed to be graded.

We request the University of Groningen to grade our fellow student Victoria Deniel on the video assignments this academic year. She is doing the video block online and has made that decision based on the promise of our professors that we can do the video block both offline and online.

It is unacceptable that the University of Groningen promises reassurances one day and then decides to block a person's right to participate in the course on another. This after said individual made a decision based on the reassurances that the person responsible for the MA of Journalism made in an unrecorded meeting. This on top of an already stressful year where many things have been uncertain and students have been left in limbo on many occasions.

We, therefore, ask the University of Groningen to grade the video material that Victoria makes for the final Journalism 5 course from her home in France.
