The state of Georgia has enacted a law that seriously restricts the right to vote. Notice the race of the man signing and the men celebrating the signing of this law. Notice too that the signing is taking place under a painting of a plantation that was the  home of a notorious slaveowner.

The law is designed to make it more difficult for people of color to vote. Its discriminatory intent of the new Georgia law is clearly shown by two provisions. First, it limits Sunday voting. This is a direct attack on "Souls to the Polls," a campaign where African American churches urge their members to vote after church service.  Second, voters in predominantly minority communities often have to wait hours to cast their ballots. The new law makes it a crime to give food or water(!) to voters waiting in line to vote. That is clearly meant to discourage people from voting.

Voting is a sacred right. People of color, and indeed people of all races, marched and died in Georgia to earn the right to vote.  Major League Baseball, which celebrates Jackie Robinson, should not hold the All- Star game, its premier summer event, in a state that has deliberately made it harder for people of color to vote.
