Train teachers to be fluent in mental health care
Students are being put into classrooms that don't offer the mental health support they need. There are students who need more help than others and they shouldn't have to go to a special program for that. A student shouldn't be put into a different classroom because they get angry sometimes or they have difficulty understanding the subject they are being taught. A student should be able to to be taught in the same room as their peers while getting the support they need. A teachers should be able to deal with crisis situations in the event that a counsellor isn't available.
There are students who struggle every day with the stress of homework, home life and so much more, there should always be a trained professional available to help students who are in need of support. A teacher should be able to deal with a student with mental problems just as easily as they can a student without.
7.4% of children between the ages of 3 and 17 have mental health issues that should be taken into consideration by all teachers in the building, not just the designated counsellors who may be busy, a teacher shouldn't have to send a child out of the room because they cant emotionally handle the work that has been given to them, a student shouldn't be split from their peers and their friends because they get angry sometimes, and a student should be able to have the right to ask for extra help without being told that they cannot receive that help without being transferred to a classroom because they have a different work style than the other students around them.
