The Government intends to build a Coastal Road along the Coast of Mumbai. Though the intent of easing traffic congestion is valid to an extent, the consequent damage to the natural coastline will be devastating. We have already seen people affected by the project approaching the courts. In fact, the natural environment is already horribly stresses and any further damage to the natural environment will cause irreparable harm to all of us.

We should have sustainable development and ensure a good future for the future generations.

Hence, I am suggesting an alternative - A Water-Way.

Mumbai is blessed with proximity to the sea and it is sad that we are not using the sea as a Water-Way. We should use the Sea for transportation. Sea routes should be created with Docking-Stations at important locations. This way, we do not have to destroy the natural coastline. Instead of spending huge amounts on the entire coastal road, a small fraction of it could be invested in Top-Quality Boats & Sea-Vehicles. Of-course, the Docking-Stations, Boats & Sea-Vehicles should be  safe and efficient and that's why they should be of the Best-Quality. 

Building a Water-Way instead of the Very Expensive Coastal Road will also have a favourable financial impact and consequently significantly lower tax burden on the citizens. Also, we can ensure sustainable development.

Many countries around the world are using Water-Ways very effectively. And if successful in Mumbai, this Water-Way model can be created in other coastal cities as well, thereby multiplying the cost-savings and also saving the natural environment.

WE HAVE TO PROTECT THE NATURAL ENVIRONMENT AND OPT FOR COST-EFFECTIVE ALTERNATIVES TO ENSURE OUR WELL-BEING - HEALTH & FINANCIAL.

Hence, I urge my Mumbai Brothers & Sisters to sign this petition and urge the Government to build an efficient Water-Way instead of a Very Expensive Coastal Road. Do speak-up independently as well at various forums.
