Breastfeeding Mother Scrutinized for Using Cannabis as an Alternative for Chronic Pain
I am a mom of two who, like most of America, suffers from chronic back/hip pain. Unlike the rest of America, I have decided not to take the painkillers prescribed to me, since I am breastfeeding my 4 month old. I am in physical therapy, and on my most painful days I use cannabis. Despite research that says less than 1% thc is passed through breastmilk, and studies saying there are no adverse effects of occasional marijuana use while breastfeeding, my choice to handle chronic pain has come under the scrutiny of a court. My pediatrician recommended pumping and dumping 24hrs after use, along with several leading lactation experts, such as Dr. Thomas Hale. Although I have presented this evidence to the county caseworker and magistrate, they are making me choose: breastfeed my baby or treat my pain responsibly. I need to be able to make my own choices, based on research and doctor recommendations!

Let an experienced educated mom make her own choices for her family, especially since the research and dr recommendations agree it's safer than opiates. Quit referring to nature's natural medicine, cannabis, as a drug!
