Khalil Al-Halwachi (left), a peaceful political activist, and Abdul Jalil Al-Singace (right), a peaceful pro-democracy protestor, are two scholars from Bahrain who were arrested without warrants. AI-Halwachi was arrested by plain-clothed officers after they raided his home stating they found weapons, which was denied and thought to have been planted. AI-Singace was arrested as well after peacefully protesting for democratic reform in Bahrain. Both men are being held at Jau Prison where they have faced physical and mental abuse and have been denied access to adequate medical care. Their health has rapidly declined due to this treatment, which has led to numerous medical complications, exacerbating health issues they had before their imprisonment. We ask the United States Embassy and Ambassador Maggie Nardi to call for Professor Al-Halwachi’s and Dr. Al-Singace’s release,  and for their proper health care and treatment.
