                                 Protect Madison Property Rights

Do you support protecting property rights in Madison?  Do you want the right to use your home as a rental, whether long or short term?  Respecting the right of private property is essential to a just and prosperous society.

On March 8th, there is a ballot question that seeks to amend the current definition of a dwelling unit in the Madison Zoning Ordinance. This includes that a dwelling unit shall not be deemed to include such transient occupancies as hotels, motels, rooming or boarding houses, or similar short-term lodging accommodations to paying guests for as little as one night.

This amendment will ban ALL RENTALS in Madison, short-term and long-term.

The Madison Planning Board voted the petitioned amendment down by a vote of 6-1 at the January 5th, 2022 planning board meeting.

We, the undersigned families, and individuals, who love The Town of Madison wish to preserve its way of life while improving it for future generations and concur with the Madison Planning Board in NOT supporting the ballot question recommending a BAN on ALL rentals, including short-term and long-term rentals.

It will result in economic harm to Madison residents, to Madison’s economy, the community, local businesses, and town government that depend on rentals for both income and tax revenue.

Please sign if you agree to Protect Property Rights and to vote NO on banning all rentals.
