The schools in the madison school district are not helping kids in any way. For example, I am not learning anything in my classes. My biliteracy teacher spent a whole quarter talking about identity and discovering who we are. This wasn't her choice. It was part of the really bad curriculum. We weren't spending enough time on writing and we haven't read a single text that is not on achieve 3000. Also, the ridiculous punishments are preventing students from learning and making the achievement gap even wider than it already is. They literally suspend people for every mistake they make, which is taking away from class time which doesn't give them as much potential as others. Also, they should make sure that their teachers have enough teaching experience and they should have more student teaching experiences. When there are new teachers that don't know what they are doing, it doesn't allow students to learn the stuff they need to know so they will have a hard time learning some things in the future. Also, homeroom should be a social time. Homeroom should be the 25 minutes of your day that you get to socialize with your peers. Not to just blab on about our future and our career that we don't have to worry about for another two or three years. Also, the science and social studies curriculum is not great. It is just boring to hear people drone on about latin america and the tectonic plates and volcanoes. We need to find things that are actually new to people. In conclusion, the Madison School District needs many improvements
