Let's keep doctors in our ER at Macon Samaritan Memorial Hospital!

This petition made change with 590 supporters!

The Samaritan Hospital Board of Directors under the direction of Hospital administrator, Bernie Orman, is voting to move to an all Nurse Practitioner format for our Emergency Room. The nurses would be under the direction of a non resident doctor who would not be on site.  While we understand that nurses are very capable, caring, and hardworking healthcare professionals, in an emergency or triage event, our hospital needs the guidance and expertise of a Doctor.  This will affect everyone in our community and in the surrounding area. With no doctor on staff, many jobs will be lost when area citizens travel to other communities to receive routine and emergency care, our hospital and community will miss out on revenue, and patients will receive a different standard of healthcare which, for some, could mean the difference between life and death. Don't let our big, beautiful Hospital become little more than a walk-in clinic. As a citizen and taxpayer, please sign this petition to encourage the Hospital Board to consider other measures before taking doctors out of the ER.
