Cancel Emergency Funding for City Ventures, LLC

This petition made change with 928 supporters!

This petition is to cancel or reverse the decision to loan City Ventures, LLC $800,000 to prolong the closing of the failing downtown Macon business. This is a disgraceful waste of Macon-Bibb County's tax funds. The decision to allocate these funds to this business is not only inappropriate but also irresponsible. If the company's profits are not enough to sustain their mortgage payments, then the business is predestined to default on this loan also. Allocation of the publics funds to City Ventures, LLC while our public schools are struggling and our infrastructure is crumbling, should be considered gross negligence by the Macon-Bibb County Board of Commissioners.

City Ventures, LLC, otherwise known as 'The Crazy Bull', and it's owner, Rick Hill, have asked New Town Macon for emergency funding to pay off their mortgage. These funds are allocated to New Town Macon by the Board of Commissioners to develop and sustain the city of Macon. This business and it's owner have an excessively tainted reputation pertaining to their business practices and taxpayer money should not be contributed to that.

We, the undersigned public of Macon-Bibb, request that the decision to provide a public guarantee in regards to the aforementioned transaction be cancelled or reversed effective immediately under review of Code Section 19 of the O.C.G.A. which states, "To meet a public emergency affecting life, health, property, or public peace, the commission may convene on call of the mayor, the mayor pro tempore, or a majority of all commissioners and promptly adopt an emergency ordinance, but this ordinance may not levy taxes; grant, renew, or extend a franchise; regulate the rate charged by any public utility for its services; or authorize the borrowing of money except for loans to be repaid within 30 days."

The decision to loan $800,000.00 to this business should be reversed immediately.
