Let it be acknowledged that MacEwan University has supplied insufficient and intermittent access to ‘MacEwanSecure’ for at least 3 years. An email dated September 21 2016 Titled ‘Known Problems with Wireless the Network at City Centre Campus’ serves as evidence to the historical extent of network problems at MacEwan University. Emails dated September 20, 2018 titled ‘Update on Network Issues’ and 22, 2018 titled ‘Network outage tonight(September 22) from 8 to 9 p.m.’ serve as evidence for the reoccurring problem.

Every student pays $34.50(per term) for an ‘Information Technology Fee’. The fee explanation states ‘To support technology projects that specifically result in providing new or improved technology services’. The definition states this is specifically for new or improved. ‘New’ inherently implies improvement. ‘Improved’ is the steady trajectory in a positive direction.[1] These are not mutually exclusive, unless MacEwan University has alternate definitions.

This petition demands an independent public report and action plan from MacEwan University regarding the WIFI problems on Campus to ensure network consistency and reliability. Financial compensation should be considered for a service paid that do not adequately match services rendered.

Sign this petition and share with MacEwan University Students to help raise awareness to see effectual change regarding the network and WiFi issues.
