Request to accept Bergen County Academies' AMC 10/12 A delayed answer sheets

On February 7, 2018, approximately 140 high school students at the Bergen County Academies in Hackensack, New Jersey took the AMC 10/12 A exam. Today, we were informed that all of our answer sheets have been lost by USPS in the delivery process to MAA, and therefore our scores will not be officially counted.
The students who took the AMC exam this month are extremely dedicated to mathematics and math competitions. We prepare tirelessly the entire year for this opportunity to compete in this major competition against our classmates and our peers nationwide, and we are incredibly angry that all our hard work has been rendered void.
Students from other schools have two scores that they can use to try and qualify for the AIME, but we only have one. This is unfair. In an attempt to rectify the problem, our school has mailed MAA photocopies of our answer sheets, but the MAA states on their website that they will not accept answer sheets for the AMC A after February 17, 2018. We strongly believe that this places at a large disadvantage those who are capable of performing well on the AIME and beyond -- which is the case for many of us -- but have had the opportunity unjustly taken away due to circumstances beyond our control.
MAA, we request that you accept the photocopies of our answer sheets. And so we ask of all of you: Please sign this petition to restore our right to fairly compete in the AMC series, and for our hard work and achievements to be properly and officially recognized by the MAA. Thank you!
