Scott Avery started this petition to Law School Admissions Council Any Staff or Faculty

Dear Law School Admissions Council (LSAC),

My name is Scott Avery.  I am desperately trying to take the LSAT prior to July. In early April I decided to attend law school as a promise to my mother. She is currently in hospice for terminal cancer. This is a picture of her recently. That is a custom squirrel picnic bench I built for her in April.

Because Mother's Day is fast approaching, I am asking for any support, signatures, or shares so that I may be allowed to take the LSAT prior to July 1st.

I am NOT asking for any money and do not ever want that. I just need signatures.

When I first registered for the LSAT, I miscalculated that my July 13 testing date was too late for the fall semester of law school. I was unaware this would be a problem until today when I called to change my test date. According to the test date change deadline for July, I believed I was OK to switch to the LSAT flex in June 14. Especially because of the COVID-19 crisis and its effect on so many lives.

Being unable to take the LSAT until July means that missing this deadline will delay my attendance to law school for one more year. As you can imagine this is a much more serious problem for me given my goals that I have presented to my mother, as time is of the essence.

I normally never expect any exceptions or exemptions. But, I know that it is not a matter of having physical space to take the test. And, if it is necessary I will stand on my feet the entire time, anywhere you allow, and take the test in front of anyone you approve to be a proctor.

While I realize there are rules and policies and dates and deadlines, I do believe this is one wish granted (that if exempted) could make a big impact. If I were granted this exception, I will volunteer my time to aid future law students during my three years of attendance at a university.

Thank you for your time.
