LRHSD School Walkout to End Gun Violence

I am a student at Lenape High School. I believe that we,students, should be able to walk into their school without fear of being shot in a place where they should be safe. I believe that students should not have to think about whether or not they said bye to their loved ones for the last time. On February 14, Nikolas Cruz walked into a high school in Parkland, Florida and took the lives of 17 innocent people. A school shooting has took more lives than Columbine. Since our U.S. government has failed countless times to correct the problem that has taken many lives, it is time to take matters into our own hands. It is time that we stand up and speak out for our lives. For the simple fact that we want to see our families when we get home.

Something needs to be done about this and if they won’t do anything then we need to.

The Plan:

Wednesday, March 14th: On the one-month anniversary of the tragedy incident that happened last Wednesday, we are going to walk out of school at 10:00am and voice our opinions for 17 minutes which represents the 17 innocent lives that were taken away. We will wear orange, the color that symbolizes gun control awareness.

Friday, April 20th: On the 19th anniversary of Columbine we will also walk out of school at 10:00am and wear orange to peacefully protest gun violence in our country.

Sign this petition if you have had enough and are ready to stand up and make a change.
