Lower residential speed limits to 25 mph in Palmyra, PA
Lower residential speed limits to 25 mph in Palmyra, PA

Palmyra, PA is a family-oriented town with many families, children and pets enjoying the sidewalks and outdoor spaces. The current speed limit in most residential areas in Palmyra is 35 mph. That speed is too high, especially when drivers tend to speed up past that speed limit down the long streets that have the right away connecting major roads in Palmyra. (Example East Cherry, Oak and Maple Streets which people take as a short cuts between Forge and Railroad Streets.)
The residents of Palmyra want to see their neighbors, children and pets be able to safely walk around without the chance of getting ran over while crossing streets. We choose to live in Palmyra because it is a safe, family-focused community. The current speed limits are limiting the safety we feel in residential and school areas.
We are asking the Township of Palmyra to lower the speed limits in residential areas and school zones to 25 mph. We also are requesting more rigourus speed enforcement to be performed by our Police department in these areas.
Please help make Palmyra streets safer for everyone.
