Bill Skiba started this petition to Loveland Ohio City Council and Loveland Ohio Residents

Based on current City of Loveland policies and water meter reading practices (every other month) you may be faced with large or massive water bills you will need to pay after a leaking household or business water main line is repaired. The current policy is unfair to Loveland residents who perform due diligence and have the repair made in a timely manner. This petition calls for a change to this unfair policy.

Scenario: On 2/27/21 I opened my water bill after the previous estimation period to find it was @4 times the usual amount. I immediately engaged a contractor who performed the repair on 3/1/21 after he identified the issue on the previous day. Loveland - based on policy - read my meter after the repair on 3/2/21 and provided a @138 credit. Unfortunately, this adjustment was based on a meter reading made 1/27/21.

Between 1/27/21 and 3/2/21 another 26,650 gallons of water spilled mostly into the ground.

Result: After the adjustment based on the late January reading I will owe $246.58. On the NEXT billing cycle since the adjustment is made on the previous reading (bill) I will owe another 400 to 500 dollars based on this unfair policy.

Action: Don't let this happen to you! Join me in petitioning the city to change this policy and either 1) Obtain resources for a monthly meter reading or 2) Base the adjustment AFTER a timely repair. My leak was small. Just imagine if your leak is NOT! I kindly ask you sign this petition and have Loveland City Council modify this policy. Thank you!
