MY ADVOCACY: LOVE YOUR BODY;LOVE OF BEING U….

Making improper and harsh comments about another person's weight or size is referred to as body shaming. Overweight people are frequently subjected to this, but there is a growing tendency of criticizing those who appear to be "too slender." The practice of body shaming is widespread.Body shaming can contribute to eating disorders, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, and body dysmorphia, as well as an overall sense of loathing one's body.

Imagine putting on your finest face and looking forward to seeing long-lost relatives. When you walk through the screened front entrance, instead of being greeted with niceties and hellos, you hear:

Uy, tumaba ka ata (you appear to have put on weight)! It could also sound like this at times:

What went wrong with you, you're like a stick. Payat mo masyado (You've lost an excessive amount of weight)

OR You're looking sexy.

Turning right seems like hitting a wall, and pivoting left feels the same. "I don't know where to place myself among you guys," you tell yourself, and you might even convince yourself that you're the confident American woman who doesn't give a damn what other people think.
