Bring disc golf to Cherokee Park
Bring disc golf to Cherokee Park
Disc golf is an ever growing sport in the Louisville area and a Championship caliber course could give a boost to our tourism. Kentucky has several top notch courses already and there are already 2 public courses in Louisville, but a course at a park the size of Cherokee would allow for bigger tournaments, which brings a lot of money to the community. For example in Burlington Ky (about 1.5 hours Northeast of Louisville) there is a fantastic course called Idlewild. This course brings top level pros from around the world every year as it's a part of the disc golf national tour as well as recreational players. The businesses around this course thrive because of all of the traffic that comes into the area specifically for this course. We would be doing ourselves a huge disservice by not utilizing the area that's already designated for recreation to bring more revenue into the Highlands and Louisville at large. Disc golfer's take care of their courses. As a community we strive to make sure the parks stay clean and safe for all to enjoy. Oldham county has already jumped onto this trend as well as several other surrounding counties, (i.e. Meade, Hardin, Shelby) why would we slip behind them? Bring disc golf to Cherokee so we can show the country why Louisville is the greatest city to live, work, and play in.
