Additional Commuter Parking (Zone 1)

Additional Commuter Parking (Zone 1)
I can speak for most, if not almost all, LSU student commuters. We need parking! Yes, there ARE parking spots. Are they close? No. Are they convenient? No. Are we happy with the $185 piece of plastic that gives us permission to park miles away (20-30 minute walks) from our classes? No.
As a student at Louisiana State University, I’ve considered transferring to a different university due to many reasons. Throughout my time here, I was able to just get over it. All things considered, no student should have to pay tuition to attend a university and simply be required to “get over it.” Arguably, LSU is a prestigious university. Time and money has been spent by the university to improve certain aspects of the campus. Despite this, LSU has also shown a lack of attention to certain areas that matter most to students.
Every student is different, correct? Not all of us live in on-campus housing, nor do we have the funds to stay in one. Not all of us have money to afford an apartment or house reflectively close to campus. Therefore, why must commuter students have such a disadvantage when it comes to parking? Why must we be required to hunt for a parking spot, just to park a mile away, and have to walk at a brisk pace in order to make it to our class in time?
Yes, we could all just simply wake up at the crack of dawn, rush to campus, and find a great spot (even though it’s still a decently far walk from the best parking spot). Why should we have to do that. Why should we be required to completely ruin our sleep by waking up so early, just to find a decent parking spot? Do professors have to do that? No. Do staff members have to do that? No. Why do students have to fight for a parking spot?
Aren’t we all equal? Equality is LSU’s greatest strength, right? It doesn’t seem like it to me.
