Charlie was sentenced to 75 years in prison back in 2005. He left behind a 9 month old daughter who is now 17 and has never seen her father. He was labeled as a menace to society but his mental health state was never at question. Charlie did not kill anyone yet he was given life. A life away from his daughter his family. Charlie has not laid eye on 1 family member in the 17 years he has been locked up in Angola state prison. When family call or visit they are always told he can’t have visitors. 5 years ago we received a call from prison he hung him self after mourning not knowing what had happened to Charlie he went unheard from for 3 years. His daughter fell into a deep depression where she started experiencing mental health issues. Cause she just didn’t understand what has happened to her father. Being jailed or breaking the law is one thing but not given a fair opportunity in trial is another. He was never given a fair trial cause he pled guilty. Without any memory of what laws he broke. He just knew he was in jail so he must have done something. He was a man of accountability he owned upto his actions. But his mental state was never questioned. Rather he was under the influence of drugs at times of crimes where never questioned but his physical state at the time clearly showed something was wrong with him!
