Support a special session restoring funds to state budget.

Providing these services SAVES OUR STATE MONEY by keeping people out of institutions, providing them the care they need before their health deteriorates and providing them the supports they need toward independence.

Letter to
Louisiana State House
Louisiana State Senate
Dear Honored Senator/Representative,

I am writing to you to ask you to support a special session to restore funds for individuals with special needs to the state’s budget. On Friday, June 21, 2013, Governor Jindal line item vetoed funds for:

Individual and Family Support Funds
Families Helping Families Resource Centers
Children's Special Health Services Funding
Louisiana Assistive Technology Access Network Funding
and the 200 NOW Waiver slots that were added.

When cuts are made to most other programs in our state, children usually don’t face going without health care, worsening health conditions and yes even possibly dying. When cuts are made to most other programs, families don’t have to face agonizing decisions about whether or not they have to institutionalize their children. When services to individuals with disabilities are cut, that’s exactly what families can and will be facing.

Providing these services SAVES OUR STATE MONEY by keeping people out of institutions, providing them the care they need before their health deteriorates and providing them the supports they need toward independence.

I urge you to support a special session to restore these funds. Please let me know where you stand.

Thank you.
