Christopher Stephens started this petition to Gov. John Bel Edwards

I am creating this document to petition the Louisiana state government along with governor John Bel Edwards to draw up legislation that will result in Daylight Saving Time to be in effect all year long.

For the edification of the masses, Daylight Saving Time is in effect from the dates of March 10th, 2019  (Spring Forward) to November 3rd, 2019 (Fall Back). As I am creating petition (December 7th, 2019), Louisiana is in Standard Time.

Several states in this great country of ours have already done what I am proposing, including Florida, which in 2018 passed the “Sunshine Protection Act.” The “Sunshine State” voted to add more sunshine to their lives by making their days last longer, I believe the “Sportsman’s Paradise” should follow suit.
It’s not just Florida that wants this needed change; Arkansas, Alabama, Nevada, Oregon, Washington and Tennessee are craving more sun in their lives. The citizens of our wonderful state want this change and should be given a chance to vote on it.

Aside from just a “want” for more sunshine in our lives, the reasons to make this monumental shift verge into better healthcare for our elderly and lower crime.
The potential benefits of a permanent daylight saving time are substantial. Studies in the American Journal of Public Health and the Journal of Safety Researchshow that the move would reduce car crashes by increasing visibility for commuting drivers. The Transportation Department has stated that a uniform policy would save lives and prevent traffic injuries.

I’m asking the citizens of Louisiana to sign this petition today and to GET THIS DONE!
