Mental Health Awareness In Scottish Schools

Teachers in schools aren't trained, as part of their mandatory teacher training to deal with students with mental health issues. In fact, only 1% of teachers in Scotland are specially trained in children's mental health. This is unacceptable! Therefore, it is vital that it becomes a legal requirement for teachers to be trained in children's mental health as part of their teacher training. Otherwise, schools are failing in their duty to keep children safe, happy, achieving and nurtured: key aims of the Scottish education system. It is a necessity because we need to support the children who are struggling with their education because of their mental state.
