I believe it's time we got together and told the government and gambling agencies that we deserve to be told the truth. Why advertise a multimillion dollar jackpot when half of it will end up at the IRS? Obviously each state is different in regards to taxes but they could at least be forthcoming with the federal tax withholdings. Wouldn't you feel better knowing that the $50,000,000 jackpot is what you would see deposited in your bank account instead of the sticker shock of losing 50% or more? It's no different than being blindsided by sales tax and sin tax at the register. Either we eliminate/lessen the taxes levied on lottery winnings or we know the actual value after taxes before we play.
