Michael Goodwin was wrongfully convicted, in 2007, in Los Angeles of orchestrating the 1988 murders of Mickey and Trudy Tompson. He is serving two life terms without parole for crimes that he has never been connected to in any way by anyone. This organization and Goodwin have delivered unequivocal documentation of the legion of serious errors in Michael F. Goodwin's 2006 prosecution and trial. The two august prosecutors who were responsible for Goodwin's counterfeit prosecution and wrongful conviction unexpectedly left the D.A.'s office in 2012, following the election of a new D.A.
Last year, extensive evidence of Goodwin’s unfair trial and wrongful conviction has been provided to the L.A.D.A.’s “Wrongful Conviction Unit.” Application for review has been filed with the head of this division of the L.A.D.A.'s office.
Based on the voluminous documentation provided to the Professional Standards division of the L.A. Sheriff's Department, a one-year investigation of the lead detective's corrupt and fatally flawed investigation was concluded last year. The head of this division has indicated that "administrative action" has been taken against the detective but detailed results have still not been forthcoming.
Michael Goodwin is currently in the process of filing a writ of habeas corpus. The evidence in the writ will document in great detail how a contrived investigation led to the fraudulent prosecution and Goodwin's wrongful conviction. This evidence also points to Goodwin’s innocence since not one scintilla of evidence connecting him with the unidentified killers or the murders has ever been presented by anyone, anywhere.
Michael Goodwin is in the process of filing a writ of habeas corpus. The evidence in the writ will document in great detail how a contrived investigation and the prosecutors' amplification of false evidence led to the fraudulent prosecution and Goodwin's false conviction. This evidence also points to Goodwin’s innocence since not one scintilla of evidence connecting him with the unidentified killers or the murders in any way was presented at trial or at any other time.
The time has come for the L.A.D.A. to act on the massive body of documented evidence now in the L.A.D.A.'s possession on this grave miscarriage of justice and correct it. Goodwin, who has always claimed his innocence, has been in jails and prisons for more than 15 years. Please help us move the Los Angeles District Attorney to correct this appallingly fallacious trial, perversion of justice, by signing this petition.
