Don't remove traffic lanes on Colorado Blvd.

This petition had 50 supporters

Traffic on Colorado is currently not too bad. However, anyone who uses this street during the commute times or when parents are bringing their kids to school or picking them up knows daily they often are stuck through many signal cycles to get across town. Colorado and Broadway from the Eagle Rock Plaza to the freeway ramps of the 2 and 134 freeways, are bumper to bumper during rush hours. Removing one traffic lane here will make it unbearable. The recent removal of traffic lanes on York Blvd. (a much less busy street) has caused traffic problems and numerous complaints from local businesses. Their customers report they are discouraged from patronizing their businesses due to the increase in traffic congestion. Six intersections along Colorado Boulevard have no left turn pockets which means the number #1 lane is often blocked. When you combine that with a slow lane often blocked as diners stop and wait for a parking space to clear, you will have a boulevard coming to a complete halt at every other block.
Proponents of the bike lanes say statistics show that Colorado Boulevard is more dangerous than Colorado in Pasadena or Glendale. This is because of one accident in 2009, that killed 5 people. The proposed bike lanes would not have prevented that accident. Not counting that one accident, statistics actually show that Colorado in Eagle Rock is safer than in Glendale or Pasadena.
