William Lee started this petition to Nithya Raman Los Angeles citizens

My neighbors and I feel that the City of Los Angeles is avoiding responsibility for maintaining their properties, and is endangering people and property.  There are numerous hazards which they refuse to address.

In one specific example, we have discovered that the area between Lucile Avenue and Griffith Park Boulevard is owned by the city.  This area is neglected by the City of Los Angeles, and represents 1) tree fall, 2) flood, and 3) fire risk.  I hope you will help join us in petitioning the city to properly maintain their property here and elsewhere.

For almost an entire year, we have been trying to convince the City Council District 4 (both David Ryu and Nithya Raman administrations), Los Angeles Fire Department, and Urban Forestry Division to come and maintain the area but have run into dead ends.  The City has persistently claimed it is our responsibility to maintain this municipally owned area, and have stated that if they clean it, they will submit bills for the work to all the surrounding residents!

1) There are some very large trees on the City's property which are leaning out over some of the townhomes.  We believe that this poses potential harm to person and property, should one of the trees or branches fall.  Just this week, we have spotted a tree which appears in imminent danger of collapsing.  Our efforts to get the City to trim this tree and the others have fallen on deaf ears.

2) Some of the residents on Griffith Park Blvd have experienced intermittent water damage over the past several years.  The water damage occurs from blockage of the water drains in the area.  The blockage is from overgrown and neglected brush on the city’s property.

3) As we all know, fire season extends and worsens every year.  The LAFD sends out an annual reminder threatening possible fines if we don’t make our properties fire safe; but the city is evading responsibility for maintaining their own.

This is but one example of the City failing its citizens and voters.  Please join our petition to get Los Angeles to pay attention to its infrastructure, for the safety and wellbeing of us all.  If you have other examples of neglect, or believe if our cause, please sign this petition!
