Los Ángeles Community Colleges must go back to in person classes Fall 2022.
Students of Los Ángeles Community Colleges are being underserved by classes delivered mostly online. Students are being deprived of the forming experience of interacting directly with professors and other students. Administrators justify online offering by saying “it is the students preference.” The truth is that too many students are taking advantage of online classes that are easy to cheat and too many professors are too comfortable receiving a check by just posting material online. Student enrollment is down to half of the pre pandemic level and nothing less than a fully in person college will bring it back up.
The newly released Fall 2022 schedules still lists way too many classes online. That is not the way to support struggling students. Students need a strong academic foundation. The Board of trustees of the Los Angeles Community College District must act now!
