In Australia, we're gradually losing our rights, in particular freedom of speech and assembly. Little by little, the people's will is being stifled and it's incumbent on all of us to fight back against this insidious disease, which is scarily similar to what was happening in Germany in 1930. Australians have a reputation for being apathetic. Apathy has taken us to the mess we live in today. Everyone needs to get off their butts and do something every single day because only then, we can turn this creeping Fascism around.

Freedom of expression is a fundamental human right. It reinforces all other human rights, allowing society to develop and progress. The ability to express our opinion and speak freely is essential to bring about change in society.

Freedom of speech is a recognised right in every civilised country. To fine peaceful protesters & deny the public the right to gather to voice their discontent with council / government is right-wing Nazi dictatorship & contravenes our human rights. Are BCC edging towards imposing martial law to enforce their rule over the public? Typically, the imposition of martial law accompanies curfews; the suspension of civil law, civil rights, and habeas corpus; and the application or extension of military law or military justice to civilians. These laws are taking away some of our fundamental civil rights!
As a founding member of the UN, Australia assisted in the drafting of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights & is signatory to various other international treaties on the subject of human rights, yet Australia is the only democratic country in the world without a proper national bill of rights, preferring to rely on piecemeal legislation. Please do not let BCC silence the people and evict NFP organisations including charities from public places, we have a right to be heard and seen!
